Andre Iguodala 2008: This year was a very good year for Andre Iguodala. The Philadelphia 76ers decided that they wanted to build their franchise around him and offered him a salary commiserate with a franchise role. He signed a six year contract for $80 million, a very impressive figure. On the court, the Andre Iguodala 2008 edition was producing. He was averaging 19 points a game, 5.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.6 steals. Iggy was pretty much playing lights-out.
Since 2008, Iggy has seen his production slide a bit. In 2009-2010, he averaged 17 points a game. This season, 2010-2011, he’s only averaging 14 points a game. However, in all fairness, he has had an injury and is playing for a team that he knows wants to get rid of him, which probably makes it difficult to muster up a lot of motivation and play through an injury. Why bother, if they are going to get rid of him any way?
The 2008 season was a great one for Iggy. He got paid and was playing well. The original plan of being the 76ers centerpiece and franchise player hasn’t panned out. However, there is still room for Iguodala in this league so expect to see a lot more of him.
